I hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving. We had a great time and for the first time ever, everything that I cooked turned out awesome. I thought I’d share a couple of the great recipes I found in case any of you wanted to try them.

Autumn Potato Gratin
These potatoes are probably the fattiest thing that I have ever cooked in my entire life, but they totally rocked.

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing
This might be the single yummiest thing that I’ve ever cooked even though it wasn’t my own recipe. The only changes I made were these: I left out the liver because eww; used a honeycrisp apple because they taste better; used all fresh herbs instead of dried because they taste better and are prettier; used chicken broth instead of turkey stock; and just baked them in a nice glass dish instead of stuffing it inside a turkey. You could totally make this a vegetarian dish too if you wanted by using veggie broth and veggie turkey or veggie crumbles or faux chicken or something like that. Totally yummy dish that would go great with pretty much anything.

In non-food news…

I’m starting to get more and more stoked about Wolverine. I’m beyond thrilled that Gambit will finally be in a damned movie. Why he was left out until now, I will never understand. He was my favorite character from the comics and cartoon and he would have been a fabulous addition in the prior films. At least we finally get him and he’s being played by the wonderfully hot Taylor Kitsch to make things even better. No, he doesn’t look anything like we’re used to Gambit looking, but that doesn’t mean something won’t happen in the movie and make him a little closer to what we’re all used to. I’m personally just so happy that he’s in the film that I don’t really care what his hair and eyes look like.

I finished Shadow Kiss (Darie you have to read this and soon) last week and totally loved it. I can’t wait for the next one to come out. Must find out what happens with Rose next. I’m still totally shipping Rose and Adrian even though there isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell that they’ll end up together. I’m not a fanfic reader, but I’m totally on board for some R/A reading if any of you ever happen upon any.

I also polished off The Last Days over the weekend. I was a little disappointed in it at first and didn’t really start enjoying it until they introduced Minerva and Alana Ray and things started coming together a little more. I really got into it after that point though and couldn’t put it down because I had to see how everything continued to click into place. I enjoyed Peeps more but they are both good books and it’s better if you read them back to back so that the details of Peeps is still fresh in your mind.

For those of you who have read/are reading Scott Westerfeld books, which of his series should I pick up next? I’ve been wanting to read the Midnighters series for a while, but I’m tempted to read Uglies/Pretties/Specials because I think I’m one of the few people who haven’t read them yet.

I picked up Breaking Dawn again last night and hopefully I’ll finish it this time. It just doesn’t hold my attention quite like the others did. I’m only 150-ish pages in thus far though, so I can’t be too judgmental just yet.

Phil’s memorial service was yesterday and it was really quite lovely. I somehow managed to hold it together even when Darie spoke about him. She talked about how much fun we all used to have at our Big Gay Tuesday get-togethers and how he managed to make it through many evenings with us and our B-movies without complaining. She talked about how all you needed to make your day brighter was a hug from Phil and as silly as it may sound, it is true. You could feel like poo and he really could make you feel better by giving you a big hug or making you a yummy coffee (his weapon of choice for me was the white chocolate mocha with sprinkles) or just telling you the lamest joke known to man. He wasn’t without his faults, but who is really? I choose to remember the good times and the good in him because he really was a kind and loving person.

All in all the past few weeks have just been sad, depressing and very stressful. On top of Phil’s death, Aidan and I are preparing to move in the next few weeks and I’ve been cleaning out closets and packing every week and I don’t think I’ll ever finish. I’ve done no real web-related work lately and I am so behind on helping a couple of people out with things that should have been done weeks ago. I know they understand the situation I’m in right now, but I still have guilt over the fact that it’s just sitting there staring at me and I can’t find the motivation to get it done. I’ve also been a bit stressed over the fact that I’ve been super broke for the past couple of months. I mean, I’ve gotten the bills paid, but the food/gas/etc. money has been spread very thin to a point that I’ve been losing sleep over it. Thankfully I’ll be able in a better financial situation in a few weeks, so I won’t have to stress over it much longer.

On a lighter note, I’m sure you noticed that I put up a new layout. This one features that hotness that is Taylor Kitsch (photos courtesy fnlgallery.com) and was made by the lovely and talented Nat.
