So Alive

I haven’t felt much like blogging lately, as you all may have noticed from my complete and utter lack of blogging. Let’s see if I can fill you in on everything now…

Darie got married this past weekend and it was so much fun. She looked amazing and I hope to have photos available soon. :D

Site Pimpage: Sophia Web is now open. There is a ton of gallery work left to do, as well as the video archive to build, which is going to take many months to complete, but it’s in pretty good shape as it is. I am in love with the layout as well, which was made by the awesome Dora.

My spider bite has healed nicely, but I do have a scar. It’s getting lighter though, so hopefully it’ll be completely gone within the next few months.

The only fall TV that I’m loving right now is Pushing Daisies, Supernatural (S3 is really strong), FNL (I choose to pretend that 1 storyline is not really happening), The Office and Chuck. I’m actually a couple of eps behind on The Office and Chuck, but will catch up soon because they are so much fun.

I hate the song ‘Hey There Delilah’ by The Plain White Ts. I don’t really know why I hate it so much though. It’s mellow and I like mellow and the singer has a nice enough voice, but I just can’t stand it. Blech!

On the good music front, I’m completely addicted to Ryan Adams’ Easy Tiger CD. It’s sooo good. Come to think of it, I’m actually kind of addicted to all things Ryan Adams right now. I know he’s supposed to be a total douche in real life, but he is one incredibly talented musician and therefore I am choosing to overlook that fact for the sake of good tunes.

I know there’s more, but that’s all I have for now.

Nice to meet you anyway…

I don’t have to have surgery to remove the area from the spider bite. Yay! The surgeon said to just keep taking the antibiotics and using ointment and everything should heal up soon. Thanks to the antibiotics it is already looking much better.

I have had Gavin DeGraw on the brain for the past few days. Why don’t they play him on the radio anymore? He’s adorable and has some really good songs.

If anyone goes to see ‘In the Valley of Elah’ this weekend, please send me your thoughts on it. My next few weekends are jam packed with things and I won’t be able to see it for at least few weeks.

Hippie, hippie, yuck!

WARNING: This post might gross you out if you dislike spiders and/or talk of open wounds…

So I went to the doctor today about my spider bite and my fears were confirmed. It is a brown recluse bite, which while not fatal is nevertheless a really bad bite to have because the center of the bite essentially starts to rot and expand outward in a ring and inward as well as all the skin cells die. The doctor gave me an oral antibiotic to take every 8 hours for the next week which is supposed to help it all heal, but she said it would also get darker and nastier as it heals. She also gave me a referral and told me see a surgeon because it could potentially need to be cut out. As much as that will suck if it happens, I would much rather have the surgeon cut a piece out of my hip rather than just watching the skin die on a daily basis and end up with some gross hole there. Blech! I’m so glad I went to have it seen about though because I would hate to think of what things might have looked like in just 1-2 more days.

If my post hasn’t grossed you out enough, you should do a brown recluse spider bite search on Google because oh my freaking god there is some SCARY and totally gross stuff out there. I saw this one woman who waited a little too long to see a doctor and had a giant hole in her stomach about the size of a coffee/tea cup saucer. *shudders*

Heather and spider bites and randomness, oh my!

Just because it has made me about 50 times more excited to see ‘Broken’ than I already was, below is my girl Heather’s music video for “The Hanging Tree” from the film. I already posted it at heather-graham.org, but thought I’d post it here too because I truly am beyond excited about the film and can’t help but pimp it everywhere I can. A LOT of people have been making really nasty comments about Heather for doing this video and that makes me feel really bad for her, especially since she actually sounds pretty damned good for an actress who isn’t a trained singer. Plus, none of the nasty commentors seem to understand that she sings the song in the film and that is why she did the video, not because she’s trying to become a rocker chick or anything. Enough ranting and on to the video…

I got my first spider bite a few days ago and yuck. I didn’t even know I had a bite until a few days later when the spot turned bright red and got a little hole in it. It’s on my hip, right where my pants, etc. rub, so I didn’t even feel it until it got tender. So weird and so gross. They are coming to spray my place in a few days, so hopefully that will take care of any other unwanted visitors that might be trying to crawl up through the drain.

I capped ‘Broken English’ last week and caps are now available in the gallery if anyone is interested in using them for artsy purposes or just ogling the pretty. :)

Oh and how could I forget the train wreck that was Britney Spears’ big comeback on the VMA’s? Horrible doesn’t even begin to describe her look (I guess I should be happy she covered her girl parts up at least) or supposed performance. I’ve never been a fan and I’ve never felt bad for her because she seems to purposefully seek out all the publicity, good, bad and otherwise, but I actually felt a wee (and I do mean wee) bit sorry for her because she sucked so bad and apparently Sarah Silverman said such horrible things about her and her kids, which is just in such poor taste. Make fun of the train wreck all you want, but not someone’s kids. That’s just cruel.
