I haven’t blogged in forever, so I thought I’d catch up in a giant random post. Oh and I changed the layout because Sophia (as Brooke) is too cute in her sexy devil costume and the photo needed to be utilized.

As most of you know, my dad passed away a couple of weeks ago. We weren’t close and I hadn’t seen him in 10 years so being there at the very end was kind of odd, but I’m so glad I went to see him and had a chance to talk with him briefly. We didn’t get to say all the things we wanted to say, but we said enough and there was peace for both of us. I still haven’t cried over it, but I will one day.

I turned 34 earlier this week. It was an OK birthday other than Aidan being sick and us not getting to cook dinner and stuff like we’d planned. I didn’t want a germy birthday dinner and certainly didn’t want to catch the bug he had. We’ll probably bake a cake or something this weekend, just so we can celebrate properly.

As I’ve plugged several times already, dashmihok.com and sophiabushphotos.com are now online if anyone wants to affiliate. I’ve got spots open for family, top and regular affies. Just email me through either of the sites and I’ll be happy to add you.

Aidan and I dropped dominic-monaghan.org due to lack of time. We didn’t want to let it go, but there was just entirely too much to do to get it to where it needed to be. We might open another one under a different domain one day with a smaller gallery or something. Or not. Who knows.

I’m in love with Glee and more specifically Lea Michele. The show is super fun and super pretty and all, but I don’t know if I’d be as into it if it weren’t for her. She just kind of brings the whole thing together and makes it all work. At least for me anyway. I also totally love Jane Lynch as Sue. She’s just absolutely perfect in her role.

Supernatural is rocking this season. I have a feeling they will break my heart by the end of the season though.

Tried to watch Vampire Diaries and boy does it blow. I still think Paul Wesley is super cute, but he doesn’t really embody Stefan just as Ian doesn’t embody Damon and Nina totally doesn’t embody Elena. Truthfully, hardly any of the characters look like they were described in the book (see descriptions here) which bothers me. Maybe if the actors or scripts were better, I might like it more. As it stands though, I had to give it up.

One Tree Hill isn’t very good this year, but I love Sophia so I will continue watching. Plus, they’ve had some really great tunes and Bethany looks amazing. I also like Shantel in her role, but she does happy and fun better than she does sad and hurt. The storylines are just so lame and some of the dialogue is just so forced. There is just no question that the show should have ended last season. I hope that they let it go in peace after this season because otherwise it’s just going to be unwatchable. I know some of the actors won’t have much of a career after it ends because they don’t have much talent, but they should have made a nice little nest egg for themselves by now and they could live comfortably for a while even if they don’t get much work.

Gossip Girl is kinda meh as a whole, but I LOVE Chuck to pieces. He seems just as smarmy as always, but less smarmy at the same time and much better dressed. I do miss S1 clothes on Chuck though. They were the best. Why do they keep putting Blair in shoes that don’t match her outfits in any way whatsoever? It’s weird and makes her look like she has no fashion sense even though she totally does. OK, I know it’s the stylists on the show that dress the cast, but still. And don’t get me started on that hideous outfit they had Serena in a few weeks ago. You know which one I’m talking about. Ugh times infinity. I wish they’d cut Vanessa’s hair again because trying to go for the messy Serena hair on her just doesn’t work at all. Also, why do they continue to make her annoying?

The True Blood finale was a let down. It took me weeks to finally watch it and then I felt like it was an hour wasted. I so wish they would have combined books 2 and 3 for Season 2 because they could have done it pretty easily and then that dreadful Maryann storyline would have ended long ago like it should have since she was barely present in the book and didn’t even have a name. Yeah.

I hope Dollhouse survives. I would hate to be without my weekly Joss and Enver fix. I’m so bummed that I can’t watch tonight because our stupid cable box is dead and I won’t have a replacement one until sometime next week.

Still practicing Russian, but I’m still not very good. I can say a few things fully and properly, but it’s getting really hard now. I keep getting the “I” and “You” and male and female forms of things mixed up, as well as the word order. I can’t even pronounce anything on the disc I started yesterday which makes me a little unhappy and somewhat frustrated. I think part of it has to do with my Southern accent. I just can’t wrap my mouth and vocal chords around certain words no matter how hard I try. I’ll have to take the discs back to library soon too which kind of sucks. They have a whole language section though, so I could try Farsi, Italian, French, German, Chinese and the list goes on. I might give a few others a whirl to see which one(s) I like best because learning Russian has definitely been fun and a good exercise for my brain and that’s exactly what I needed.

I think I’ll end here since my lunch break is now over. I’ll try to start tweeting again soon too. Just haven’t been in the mood lately.

Just finished this week’s TSCC and Dollhouse. Why does the TV have to hurt my brain and break my heart? I didn’t think it was possible for TSCC to wound me more than it did last week with the passing of my absolute favorite character, but it totally did with quite a few things this week. On the bright side though, at least that Jessie is gone. Here’s to hoping she never comes back.

And Dollhouse? I’m so loving the show, but oh my with the heartbreak. OK, so I know not everyone is diggin’ the show as much as I am, but whatever. Mellie/November and Sierra were killing me tonight, especially Sierra. Poor girls. Victor rules! I’ve liked him from the get go, but the past couple of weeks, he’s just been flat out awesome. I don’t recall having seen the actor in anything before, but he’s quite talented and I’m very much enjoying seeing what he brings to the show each week. I’m totally shipping Victor and Sierra now too. You know who I’m starting to like? Topher. He still creeps me out, but I’m finding him to be more funny and nerdy than uber creepy like I did before. I can’t wait for Paul to find out more. Next week can’t get here soon enough.

As you can see, there’s a shiny new layout by Mycah here featuring the adorable and super talented Miss Amy Adams. I’m still tweaking the stylesheet a little, but it’s more or less complete.

The gallery also has a new look by Natalie featuring David Tennant and Kylie Minogue in Doctor Who: Voyage of the Damned. She made it like a year ago and I am just now getting around to using it. I’ve still got a pretty Mad Cowgirl one that I need to use as well. Perhaps I’ll use it next time.

I’ve also added screencaps from the opening credits and episodes 1-3 of Dollhouse to the gallery and will be adding more soon.

Mia Online has also gotten a much deserved facelift thanks to Mycah too. I love it!

I’ve finally bought Butch Walker’s Sycamore Meadows, Sondre Lerche’s Phantom Punch and Lady Gaga’s The Fame recently and am loving them all. Butch and Sondre go great together on a playlist, but not so much with Lady Gaga. I don’t even typically like her kind of music, but it’s so catchy and it’s been motivating me to get my ass moving a little more and that is always a good thing. For instance, yesterday I danced around the house doing laundry and cleaning while her album played and didn’t realize how much I’d gotten done until it was all over. I love getting a little workout without actually working out.

Went on a real date this weekend and had a fun time. We had Indian (yum!) and went to see The Haunting in Connecticut. The food and company were better than the film, but whatever, it was a great night all in all.

I caught up on the last few eps of Smallville and oh my do I ever adore Sam Witwer. He’s just so good as Davis. Really, really good. So tortured and hot. Hahaha. He and Chloe kill me. I know they will never be, but they totally need to get to make out again because they are so pretty together and she grounds him. Oh how I love my ‘ships that can’t have a future.

That’s all the randomness I have for now.

In the world of TV…

Lost continues to blow my mind. It’s so freaking good, but oh my how the time frames are confusing my poor brain.

Chuck is consistently funny as hell each week. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but it always has Aidan and I howling. We were all but rolling on the floor last night at some of the stuff that happened, like when Chuck goes to save the day, but trips and gets his foot caught in a window and breaks it while managing to create a diversion for Sarah and Casey. Priceless! I’m still waiting for Sarah and Chuck to have some hot sex at least once. They both love each other and can’t be together, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t get it on. Sure, it would probably be funny sex rather than super hot sex and it would make for awkward moments later down the road, but that would also make for more funny.

I’m still loving Dollhouse and so far ep 2 has been my favorite. For one, it had a whole lot of Matt Keeslar in it and anything with Matt in it is a good thing. He’s so dreamy even when he’s playing a creepy and super crazy killer. It’s had the strongest Echo story so far in terms of her adapting to her surroundings and doing what needed to be done to save herself since that wasn’t something that was programmed into her. Episode 3 had a bit of that too with her thinking for herself and pushing death in the face of the diva singer who only thought she wanted to die. Episode 4 wasn’t a strong episode all around, but I still found it to be enjoyable because of the other moving parts in the story. Sierra, Echo and Victor becoming a group is intriguing. This can’t end well for them since they aren’t supposed to develop friendships, but I think it’s interesting. I am intrigued as to why they keep sending Victor to Paul when he won’t stop his search for the Dollhouse. I am intrigued by Alpha (clearly alive) and how he’s doing what he’s doing on the outside. Does he have help? Why is Echo so important? Were they friends? Relatives? In love? Me wants to know!

In movie news…
We went to see Watchmen on Saturday and all in all I really loved it. I have not read the graphic novel yet, but I will do so very soon. I was super excited about the film and wanted to hold off on reading it because I didn’t want to compare the two in my head as I watched the film and inevitably not be able to fully enjoy the film. That being said, here are some of my likes and dislikes and yes, there are some spoilers…

Great opening sequence. It was so pretty and so well done and the music was perfectly perfect. Definitely one of my favorites of the past few years.

Rorschach! OK, my Rorschach like is really more Rorschach love. Jackie Earle Haley was freaking brilliant in this role. Definitely mine and Aidan’s favorite character of the entire film. He was brutal and sly and smart and just plain freaking awesome. I can’t imagine anyone being more perfect in the role. I even loved his creepy deep scratchy voice. I did not love his demise though. That made me sad.

Carla Gugino was gorgeous! Her pin up look was to die for pretty.

How is it possible that the awesomeness that is JDM filled the shoes of such a horrid character so well? Because he’s a fan-freaking-tastic actor! Next to Jackie Earle Haley’s performance, JDM’s was definitely a stand out. A horrifyingly scary and brutal stand out, but a stand out. He was up there in Otis Firefly territory and it’s hard to be in Otis territory because it’s pretty hard to be such a horrible person yet have a side to you that makes the viewers still somehow like you in some way.

Billy Crudup pre-Dr. Manhattan transformation was so cute and sweet. I almost cried when he was stuck in the room and exploded. It was sad.

Waaaaaay too much glowy blue penis post transformation. Cover that thing up, Dr. Manhattan! I know he doesn’t care if he’s covered or not because he really has no need for clothing or anything like that, but I didn’t need to see that much penis flopping around all throughout the film. I like men and everything, but penises are not pretty things, especially when they are just hanging there and flopping around when they walk. Glowing blue penises are even worse because they kind of scream “Hey! Look at me! I’m big and glowy and blue!” and you can’t not look at it.

Matthew Goode’s hair or shall I say wig. WTF? MG is actually a pretty hot guy with his normal hair, but with that weird blonde wig and the clothes that accompanied it, he looked like a big flaming homo rather than a kick ass superhero. Even in his costume he looked like a big ol’ queen because of that hair. Truly not a pretty site. I would have to tell my awesome gay boyfriends to stop and take a look in the mirror if any of them ever tried to go out into public looking like that.

Malin Akerman is super pretty, but she didn’t do much in the way of emoting and that would have come in super handy during her emotional scenes and her truly awkward make out scene and sex scene with Patrick Wilson. Speaking of the sex scene, it was kind of painful to watch. They both looked so uncomfortable with each other and it went on way too long and it wasn’t hot.

All in all, I was very happy with the film as a whole and would definitely like to see it again.

I put the ITC gallery back online if anyone needs anything there. I’ll be giving it a facelift and adding Dollhouse caps very soon.

This weekend was pretty laid back. We mostly hung out at home and watched Dexter and a couple of crappy horror films. We also did a little more work in Aidan’s bathroom and it’s so close to being complete. Aidan’s BFF’s dad kissed me on Saturday night and it was quite nice. I haven’t decided if that’s a good, bad or otherwise thing just yet though. It snowed yesterday and actually stuck. It was mostly all melted by this morning, but it was nice and pretty while it lasted.

To be so young, AnnaLynne McCord looks like a nasty, used up, dirty old whore. I’m really tired of seeing her gross shovel face everywhere I turn.

I’m still loving Dollhouse and even though the backup dancer/singer storyline wasn’t 100% in my wheelhouse, I loved everything as a whole. I love Boyd so much! He’s definitely the big stand out in the series for me. I also dig Paul trying to find out the truth only to be getting blocked at every turn. Or almost every turn. I did not see the thing with Victor coming at all, but I probably should have. I’m intrigued by Dr. Saunders, but can’t figure out what is up with her past and I really, really want to know. I still want to know who the naked guy at the end of ep 1 was who is helping Paul. I’m assuming he’s a rogue active? Or Alpha? But that can’t be because Alpha’s dead, right? So many pieces to the puzzle. Topher creeps me the hell out. He’s scary. *shudders* Lastly, I wish people would stop giving Eliza crap for her portrayal of Echo. I think she’s doing a great job and I don’t really know how else they expect her to act. She is playing a character that is essentially a very young child when she isn’t given any programming and I’m guessing that is probably part of a base personality they give her when they wipe her. She doesn’t know what’s going on there and doesn’t understand anything beyond what they tell her. If she had her own individual personality and were allowed to roam free with it, it would cause problems for the company because they would all be like that and it would make them all very hard to control. I know it’s just a TV show, but people give it shit without giving it much of a chance and from what I understand, the true Joss-ness of it will be coming in within the next few episodes and if it makes it that long, the whiners will probably be eating their words.
