pineapples are yummy

Posted on November 19, 2008 by Stef in Movies and Randomness

I actually managed to find some fresh and sweet pineapple at Whole Foods today and it made me super happy. The only ones they had recently are hard and sour and just plain icky. Blech!

I ordered our Twilight tickets earlier today. I don’t think my poor son knows what he’s getting himself into by going to see this film with me. I mean, he wants to go and see it, but I don’t think he understands the magnitude of the fanbase that surrounds this film or the books. I hope for our sakes that the young girls don’t squeal with glee through the whole thing.

We’re also going to see Quantum of Solace this weekend, so yay! Aidan was sick last weekend and was really bummed that we couldn’t check it out.

My favorite knee-high boots are going to have to go bye-bye. *sniff* I somehow managed to rip a hole in the side of one of them, get a deep gash/scuff in the toe of the same one and the seam on the back of the other one is ripping apart. I would have them repaired if possible, but it would cost me more to have them repaired than to just buy a new pair. I wore them a heck of a lot because they go with practically every skirt I own and they’ve had a good long 4 year winter run anyway, so I guess it’s time that I bid them adieu.

I finished Peeps over the weekend and have The Last Days ready to read once I finish Shadow Kiss. It came out last week and I couldn’t not get it since I just finished the other Vampire Academy books recently and LOVED them. I’m about 1/2 way through it and am enjoying it just as much as I did the others. Love the characters! I must admit that I’m kind of ’shipping Rose and Adrian, but I’m guessing that’s not going to happen. I do think it would make for much fun if they were to have some kind of little fling though. ;)

That’s all the randomness I have for now.

Butchy Goodness!

Posted on November 14, 2008 by Stef in Music and YouTube Videos

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Butch Walker yet, even though I’ve pimped him dozens of times over the years, I highly suggest you give him a listen. His acoustic sets are freaking amazing, so if you ever happen to have a chance to see him live, please do. You will not regret one single second of it. I promise.

Please note that the songs I’ve chosen are pretty much all ballads. He has some really great up-tempo stuff too, but I thought I’d make a play for your heartstrings and showcase these this go round. Now on to the music…

Stateline
This song always either makes me cry or brings me to the verge of tears. I’ve seen it bring an entire room full of people to tears including Butch himself. You can see for yourself how emotional he gets when he’s singing it.

Joan
This song makes me a little emotional as well. I blame this on him because he sings it with that raw emotion that he sings Stateline with.

this is the sweetest little song

I polished off OTH S3 a few days ago and really, really need S4 to arrive in my mailbox soon.

I finally watched The Sarah Connor Chronicles S1 recently and it was really good. Lena Headey bores me greatly, but I will continue to give her a chance. Other actors have grown on me over time, so she might grow on me too.

Butch Walker has a new CD out. Check out some samples here and then go forth and purchase it.

Aidan and I went to see Changeling last weekend. It was his idea that we go see it, which surprised me because he’s usually more of a cheesy horror movie nut. We both thought it was a really well made and well acted on all parts, especially by Angie and Jason Butler Harner who played Gordon Northcott. I hadn’t realized how skinny Angie was during that time, but she was just skin and bones. It worked in her favor though because it added an extra layer of fragility to her character and all that she went through. Jason was just too creepy for words. (WARNING: The rest of this entry contains some slight spoilers regarding Jason’s character and how some of the scenes were filmed.) Read On »

Music of the day

Posted on November 7, 2008 by Stef in Music and YouTube Videos

I haven’t done a music/video post in a really long time, so today I thought I’d take it way back and give you a little awesomeness from Sarah Vaughan and Joe Williams. Happy listening.

Brooke picspam

Posted on November 6, 2008 by Stef in picspam

I’ve been re-watching One Tree Hill lately and am totally falling in love with it and Brooke all over again. Sophia is full of awesome and I love, love, love her portrayal of Brooke. She does such a great job of playing her as being both tough and fun on the outside and fragile as glass on the inside. Great character!

In honor of my re-watching, I thought I’d do a little Brooke picspam today. Below are some of my favorite S2 and S3 Brooke happy faces, shock faces, cute faces and funny faces. Enjoy!

Back in action

Posted on November 5, 2008 by Stef in Movies, TV and picspam

Well, for now anyway. I haven’t felt like blogging in ages.

Things are good. Been working on house stuff in my downtime. Still so much to do though.

We went to see Saw V a couple of weeks ago. It was pretty good (the part that revolved around Scott Patterson anyway), but part IV is still the best.

Wait for The Hauting of Molly Hartley to come out on DVD if you really want to see it. It’ll be cheaper for you and you won’t feel that you’ve just thrown money away for nothing. It’s not the worst film I’ve ever seen, but it’s certainly not good either. The actors weren’t very good and it’s not even scary. The nicest thing that I can say about it is that Chace Crawford was super cute in it.

Yeah, that’s about all I have for now. I will now leave you with a shiny Ed Westwick picspam since I haven’t done one in ages….

frell me dead

Posted on August 26, 2008 by Stef in Movies, Randomness and picspam

We closed on our condo yesterday, so we’re officially homeowners now. Yay! I can’t wait to buy paint and start doing home projects. :)

I haven’t talked about John and Aeryn from Farscape in forever, but they are still one of the most awesome and prettiest couples ever to grace a television screen. Click here to check out _jems_ super pretty John/Aeryn kissing picspam.

I think I’m going to move my blog elsewhere because I don’t like certain people having access to it. Plus, I’m just kind of bored with it in general and starting anew might be kind of nice. Now to come up with a fun new name…

I finally saw Saw through Saw IV. I actually watched Saw a while back and didn’t like it and never wanted to see the other ones, but decided to give them a chance recently. Saw II was pretty good, but I didn’t care whether any of the victims lived or died, except for Donnie Wahlberg because he’s made of awesome. The twist at the end was good and I didn’t see it coming, though I probably should have. Saw III was just way too gross for my taste. I couldn’t even watch the death scenes and I had to turn the sound down because of all the screaming. Yuck! Also, the new Jigsaw helper was way too obvious. I think I enjoyed Saw IV the best, though I’m not sure how I felt about the twist. I mean, I knew who the new helper was, so that wasn’t a big shock to me, but the way everything played out was kind of meh. But hey, it had Scott Patterson in a lead role and that is always most excellent. I doubt that I will see Saw V in theaters unless they can guarantee me that they are going to tie up all the loose ends in a neat little bow and it won’t be unnecessarily disgusting. If they can’t, I will wait for the DVD.

Alan Cumming is full of awesome!

Posted on June 23, 2008 by Stef in Celebs

He’s one of those fellows with a bright, sweet face that you can’t help but smile at. Ridiculously talented and accomplished – and just so dang cute – the charming stage, TV and film actor, model, Tony Award-winner (to name but one award of many) and new Masterpiece Mystery! host Alan Cumming speaks with PopMatters 20 Questions about Dionysus, the prudency of using prophylactics, and Leon, the singing Chihuahua.

Read more about Alan (and see more – much more in the “sex symbol” section) on his site at AlanCumming.com.

1. The latest book or movie that made you cry?
I’ve been flying a lot recently and I always cry while watching movies on planes and while reading books on planes. I think it must be something to do with the air pressure or perhaps the potential imminent death, or else the free booze. Whatever.

I cried while watching Enchanted and also while reading The Great Gatsby, which my friend Joey had given me because we were driving in Long Island recently and he mentioned it and I confessed I had never read it. I also cried at a documentary about a millionaire going to a poor area of London and giving money to an impoverished community center.
