Due to the sheer number of photos that I saved (blame Mycah for this) of Rob’s awesome and hilarious faces in interviews and on the red carpet, I’m splitting this into 3 entries. Enjoy!

So guess how tall my kid is now? Are you ready for this? He’s 5′7″. He’s only 11 and I’m so not ready for him to sprout into a 6 footer at 15.
I’ve been contemplating learning Russian. I realize that Russian is actually quite useless to me in my daily life, but learning a second language would expand my brain and could be fun. Besides, everyone else usually learns French, German, Italian or Spanish whether or not they will use it in their daily lives, so why not step outside the norm? If I don’t like it, I can always try out one of the easier languages instead.
Every single book I’ve read lately has used the word “murmured” a ridiculous number of times and it’s bugging me. I’m starting to hate it almost as much as I hate the word “succulent” and I really, really hate that word. There are a lot of other words that could be used in place of “murmured” and then “murmured” could be used more sparingly. Do the authors not realize they use it so much? Do their editors not catch it? Does it not bother anyone else?
So I’m about 200 pages into Breaking Dawn and I’m still not into it. I mean, I’m into it in the sense that I need to find out how the story concludes, but I’m not really enjoying it and that is disappointing me. Read On »

I hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving. We had a great time and for the first time ever, everything that I cooked turned out awesome. I thought I’d share a couple of the great recipes I found in case any of you wanted to try them.
Autumn Potato Gratin
These potatoes are probably the fattiest thing that I have ever cooked in my entire life, but they totally rocked.
Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing
This might be the single yummiest thing that I’ve ever cooked even though it wasn’t my own recipe. The only changes I made were these: I left out the liver because eww; used a honeycrisp apple because they taste better; used all fresh herbs instead of dried because they taste better and are prettier; used chicken broth instead of turkey stock; and just baked them in a nice glass dish instead of stuffing it inside a turkey. You could totally make this a vegetarian dish too if you wanted by using veggie broth and veggie turkey or veggie crumbles or faux chicken or something like that. Totally yummy dish that would go great with pretty much anything.
In non-food news…
I’m starting to get more and more stoked about Wolverine. I’m beyond thrilled that Gambit will finally be in a damned movie. Why he was left out until now, I will never understand. He was my favorite character from the comics and cartoon and he would have been a fabulous addition in the prior films. At least we finally get him and he’s being played by the wonderfully hot Taylor Kitsch to make things even better. No, he doesn’t look anything like we’re used to Gambit looking, but that doesn’t mean something won’t happen in the movie and make him a little closer to what we’re all used to. I’m personally just so happy that he’s in the film that I don’t really care what his hair and eyes look like.
I finished Shadow Kiss (Darie you have to read this and soon) last week and totally loved it. I can’t wait for the next one to come out. Must find out what happens with Rose next. I’m still totally shipping Rose and Adrian even though there isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell that they’ll end up together. I’m not a fanfic reader, but I’m totally on board for some R/A reading if any of you ever happen upon any.
I also polished off The Last Days over the weekend. I was a little disappointed in it at first and didn’t really start enjoying it until they introduced Minerva and Alana Ray and things started coming together a little more. I really got into it after that point though and couldn’t put it down because I had to see how everything continued to click into place. I enjoyed Peeps more but they are both good books and it’s better if you read them back to back so that the details of Peeps is still fresh in your mind.
For those of you who have read/are reading Scott Westerfeld books, which of his series should I pick up next? I’ve been wanting to read the Midnighters series for a while, but I’m tempted to read Uglies/Pretties/Specials because I think I’m one of the few people who haven’t read them yet.
I picked up Breaking Dawn again last night and hopefully I’ll finish it this time. It just doesn’t hold my attention quite like the others did. I’m only 150-ish pages in thus far though, so I can’t be too judgmental just yet.
4 Comments »I totally picked the right time to go (1:00 p.m. on Sat.) because the theater was full of people like me (30+ with and without kids) rather than squealing teens. I realize this kind of made me miss out on part of the whole experience because I didn’t get to hear them sigh and see their faces as their little hearts fluttered at Rob’s hotness.
First off, let me say that I really loved the movie. It was very well made and very well acted by all and the scenery was gorgeous. I also took it in for what it was, which many people seem to be having a hard time doing. If you’re planning on going to see it, please keep in mind what exactly it is that you are going to see. It’s a teen love story with vampires. It’s not non-stop action or blood or sex. If you read the books, you know this. If you didn’t, well, just know that it isn’t your typical “vampire” tale and it has some cheesy dialogue. It’s supposed to. It was in the book. If you don’t like that kind of thing and/or didn’t like the book, then go watch something else instead.
That said, on to my review which contains spoilers. Yes! There are spoilers ahead, so if you don’t want to know, then don’t click and read more…
