oh my chad!
Mar 10In the world of TV…
Lost continues to blow my mind. It’s so freaking good, but oh my how the time frames are confusing my poor brain.
Chuck is consistently funny as hell each week. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but it always has Aidan and I howling. We were all but rolling on the floor last night at some of the stuff that happened, like when Chuck goes to save the day, but trips and gets his foot caught in a window and breaks it while managing to create a diversion for Sarah and Casey. Priceless! I’m still waiting for Sarah and Chuck to have some hot sex at least once. They both love each other and can’t be together, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t get it on. Sure, it would probably be funny sex rather than super hot sex and it would make for awkward moments later down the road, but that would also make for more funny.
I’m still loving Dollhouse and so far ep 2 has been my favorite. For one, it had a whole lot of Matt Keeslar in it and anything with Matt in it is a good thing. He’s so dreamy even when he’s playing a creepy and super crazy killer. It’s had the strongest Echo story so far in terms of her adapting to her surroundings and doing what needed to be done to save herself since that wasn’t something that was programmed into her. Episode 3 had a bit of that too with her thinking for herself and pushing death in the face of the diva singer who only thought she wanted to die. Episode 4 wasn’t a strong episode all around, but I still found it to be enjoyable because of the other moving parts in the story. Sierra, Echo and Victor becoming a group is intriguing. This can’t end well for them since they aren’t supposed to develop friendships, but I think it’s interesting. I am intrigued as to why they keep sending Victor to Paul when he won’t stop his search for the Dollhouse. I am intrigued by Alpha (clearly alive) and how he’s doing what he’s doing on the outside. Does he have help? Why is Echo so important? Were they friends? Relatives? In love? Me wants to know!
In movie news…
We went to see Watchmen on Saturday and all in all I really loved it. I have not read the graphic novel yet, but I will do so very soon. I was super excited about the film and wanted to hold off on reading it because I didn’t want to compare the two in my head as I watched the film and inevitably not be able to fully enjoy the film. That being said, here are some of my likes and dislikes and yes, there are some spoilers…
Some people are just born evil. The kid from ‘The Omen’, the children of the corn… Chad Michael Murray.
Feb 26Garret Dillahunt is made of awesome and so is Mycah. View it. Love it. If it doesn’t make you want to check out his work or at least think dirty thoughts about him then we can no longer be friends. Sorry.Â
I’m finally getting a much needed haircut today. Yay!!! I can’t wait!
Lindsay Lohan looks like poop on a stick these days. She used to have such potential and she was so gorgeous. It’s unfortunate that she doesn’t have a better support system who could help her and get her healthy again.
This is what happens happens to people who used to be pretty when they decide to fugly up and get really, really, really horrible plastic surgery. Yes, it is the same person and yes, it is terrifying. Be afraid. Be very, very afraid.
I started Blue Bloods on Friday night and finished it Saturday afternoon. It’s the first book in a long while that has held my interest for more than 2 minutes. I was itching to read Masquerade right after, but I couldn’t find it in any stores, so I picked up the first couple of Morganville Vampire books instead and am totally loving this series as well. I finished book the first yesterday and am about half way through the second. I do hope my shipment of the remaining books in the series comes soon because I need more!
Now if I could just finish the last few pages of Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist. *le sigh* It’s a good book, it’s just not what I’ve been in the mood for lately and therefore I’ve been putting off finishing it. I am enjoying the book more than I enjoyed the film, but please don’t read that as I didn’t enjoy the film because I did enjoy it. I just enjoyed it as it’s own thing. Not a movie based on the book. The film is quite different from the book and I think that maybe I should have watched the movie before I started reading so I didn’t have this idea formed in my head of what Nick and Norah would be like or how they would feel towards one another. In the book, I really tuned into how they feel about their situations with their respective exs, how they were beginning to feel about each other, how insecure and scared and excited they were inside and how the music made them feel on an intimate level. In the film though, I didn’t feel that and that saddens me a bit. Don’t get me wrong, I totally love Michael Cera and Kat Dennings and they were great, but they didn’t feel like the Nick and Norah from the book to me and the movie as a whole was more vanilla than I expected. Not in a bad way, just not in a way that made me “feel” like the book did.
Where’d you get that juice box and does it come in grapealicious?
Feb 15Friday the 13th was sooo much fun! I’m so glad we got to see it in a packed theater because it made it that much more fun. The booming laughter, the clapping and cheering probably wouldn’t have happened in a less crowded place. This Jason actually scared me and that hasn’t happened since I was a kid. The old movies scared me when I was young, but as an adult, I was mostly just cheering him on as he bumped off the obnoxious teens and then the films just started being stupid and I stopped caring about them in any capacity. I liked seeing a little bit of a person in Jason this time. I also liked a few of the kids and was kinda hoping they might make it. There wasn’t as much sex and boobies as I’d anticipated, but there was certainly enough. My 2 favorite kills were the sleeping bag and truck and I actually cheered at the truck death because I was so freaking ready for that character to be gone. Padalecki did a great job and I’m not so sure he could have pulled it off a few years ago. I’ve never thought that he was a bad actor at all, but he’s really turned up the heat in his acting over the past few years on Supernatural and I think that helped him out a lot. I’m also glad that it’s another horror film, like MBV, that was made by horror movie fans for horror movie fans. I personally feel that they did a really fantastic job of paying tribute to the originals without tainting them. A definite thumbs up from me and I will most certainly go see it again.
In TV news, Psych was a freaking blast this week. It paid tribute to Friday the 13th and April Fool’s Day and I loved every minute of it.
TTSCC made me cry repeatedly. I still don’t really care for Lena Headey, but her moments with the doctor and with a certain someone I can’t really name for the sake of not spoiling those who haven’t seen it yet really got to me. Aside from her part of the story, the only other things that interested me in this episode were the stuff with John Henry (Garret Dillahunt rocks all!) and Shirley Manson’s scenes. Very interesting. Can someone please kill off that gross Jesse girl already? Pretty please? I can’t stand her.
BSG was awesome this week! I hate that this is the last season of the show.
I also watched the premiere of Dollhouse and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately for it, it’s in the timeslot of doom and will certainly be axed in no time. I love the cast and think it’s a nifty concept and would love to see how everything plays out, but I don’t think it’ll survive because it’s not one of those shows that will be embraced by the general public and it’s not quite culty enough to be like Angel or Buffy. Stinks too because I see some potential there.
What, you want a souvenir of your ineptitude?
Feb 13I’m so bloated and crampy today it’s ridiculous. I feel like an alien is trying to crawl out of my belly. It’s horrible. *pouts* I guess the bright side is that I didn’t have to break out my Spanx in order to zip my pants like I had to a couple of days last month. I don’t know how I ever lived without Spanx. I hardly use mine except with certain dresses, but during period time they are a freaking lifesaver because they help hold in your bloated alien infested belly and that is a beautiful and helpful thing.
Alien bellies aside, it’s Friday the 13th night and I’m so freaking excited! We’re going to the 7:30 pm show, so there’s not much more time left to have to wait. Yayness for Padalecki on the big screen!
fellowship of the nerd
Feb 02Whoo hoo! Chuck in 3D in 5 minutes. Can’t wait!
I went to see My Bloody Valentine 3D two more times this past weekend. That makes 4 viewings and it just gets better each time. Aidan was super happy to finally see it in 3D, though a few of the scenes freaked him out a little because of the things that come hurtling towards the screen.
They showed the trailer for The Last House on the Left before MBV and it looks really, really good. Even though the cast is fantastic, I’ve ready some good reviews and this one is apparently very restrained when compared to its original counterpart, I’m pretty certain that I won’t be able to watch it in theaters or on DVD. Well, maybe on DVD if I turn the sound off and fast forward through the rape with my eyes closed, but otherwise I won’t be able to handle it. I just don’t handle rape scenes well at all and seeing Garret Dillahunt attack poor little Sara Paxton will probably scar me for life. I love him as Cromartie and have enjoyed the few other things I’ve seen him in, but I’m pretty certain that I wouldn’t be able to look at him the same after seeing him in such a role. *shudders* I’ve never been able to see the original because of all the things I’ve read about it. It sounds like one of the most sadistic films ever and that it is simply sadistic for the sake of being sadistic and that isn’t my cup of tea.
On a lighter note, I’m still thoroughly enjoying S2 of Mad Men. Someone needs to get on the ball and make shiny and frequently updated Christina Hendricks and Jon Hamm fansites for me to visit because I need to ogle the pretty. I would do it myself, but I have no time and no desire to start any new sites.
I’m finally all caught up on BSG and it’s still one of the bestest shows ever. Leoben and Starbuck should have a scene in every episode and they should also have lots of hot Cylon sex and make babies. I know most people are Lee/Kara shippers, but no one has more chemistry with her than Leoben does. Not even Sam and we all know how crazy hot Michael Trucco is, right? Callum and Katee just have that thing that pops off the screen and I was immediately on board for what would never be from the the very first scene they shared together. Good stuff, people! You should totally watch even if you don’t think you’ll be into it because it’s Sci Fi because it’s a really fantabulous show with an even more fantabulous cast.
another new look
Jan 26I’ve recently become obsessed with Mad Men (thanks Riikka!) and decided to spruce things up with a shiny new Joan-inspired look last week. It’s simple yet cute like the Brooke theme, but way more girlie.
Aidan and I went to see Underworld: Rise of the Lycans last night and loved it! I loved the first one, but hated the second and that made me a little worried about what they might do with this one since it focused on my favorite character, Lucian. They did him justice though and I adore him now more than ever. Well, I would adore Michael Sheen in a shaving cream commercial, but that’s beside the point. Hahaha! Seriously though, he’s the perfect Lucian. He gives the character heart and really makes you feel for him and I just don’t think the character would be same if another actor was behind the portrayal. On an unrelated Michael Sheen/Lucian note, it was very cool to see how Raze became a Lycan. I didn’t care much for him in the first film because he just seemed like the mean muscle of the Lycan clan, but in this one he’s got much more going on and I really dug his relationship with Lucian. Very cool indeed. I’m a total Lucian/Sonja shipper now too. I loved them together. Such a tragic love story.
I watched My Bloody Valentine 3D twice last weekend (once in 3D and once digital) and can’t wait to see it again. It’s so much fun and was totally made for people like me and Mycah. I love it when directors and writers get things right and actually create something for themselves and the audience. So many horror movies miss the mark when they try to be too serious, too funny, too smart, too gory for the sheer hell of it and the list goes on and on. I much prefer horror and semi-horror films that you can just go and have a good time watching and this is definitely one of those films.
Aidan and I are now anxiously awaiting the new Friday the 13th. I hope it’s as much fun as it looks like it’s going to be.
How awesome was last week’s Lost? So awesome! I am so excited about this season!
