Playing catch up yet again…

Jaylen and Dash were on Katie Couric last night and it was a lovely little segment. You can view the video at dashmihok.com. :)

Had a good Halloween even though the weather was super gross because it was cold and rainy. Aidan and Alex each ended up with like 5 pounds of candy. No, I’m not joking. They weighed it.

Been reading a lot lately. Finished Wicked Lovely on Monday, Dead and Gone Tuesday and Ink Exchange yesterday. I LOVED Ink Exchange so much. It’s very dark, but in the end, everyone ended up where they needed to be. A lot the reviews I read weren’t very positive, but I don’t understand why. It might be a story about faeries, but the themes are that of pain, suffering, addiction, loss, need, survival and trying to reclaim yourself. It’s sad and awful, but having lived through a lot of things in the book and coming out the other side broken but still alive and breathing really struck a chord in me. Maybe the people who reviewed it negatively don’t have any frame of reference and therefore just didn’t understand. No idea. Anyhoodle, on to some of the characters… I’m in love with the character of Niall and I hope to see much more of him in the next book. I never cared for Irial, but I understand why he did what he did from start to finish. As for Leslie, I feel for her and understand the awful pain she feels and why she so desperately wants to reclaim herself and make it all stop even though the way she can make it stop could ultimately destroy her. I didn’t really like the characters of Aislinn and Keenan in this one though. They seem different than in the 1st book. Aislinn grated on my nerves until the end of the book and I just hated Keenan in this one. He was a total ass, which kind of sucks because I actually grew to like him in the 1st book. Seth is still a great character, but just not in this one for long. The one character I really miss in this one is Donia. She was my favorite in the 1st book and I’m really hoping she returns in the next one.

TV Talk:

Jane Lynch gets more and more fabulous with each passing Glee episode. Is it wrong that I thought Rachel and Noah/Puck were kinda hot together and that his hotness factor was raised a few more bars by singing Sweet Caroline even though he’s a sleaze just trying to get into her pants? Yes, I thought it was wrong. Don’t care though. Totally H-O-T.

White Collar is so going to be my new favorite show of the season. It’s a nice little mix of drama, light comedy and action and Matt Bomer is perfectly charming as the lead. I loved him in Tru Calling, adored every minute he was in Chuck and thought he was really good in Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, so yayness for a weekly fix of charm and prettiness. Now if Lee Pace would get another show, I’d be in TV heaven.

I’ve been enjoying Eastwick, though it’s not something I must watch on a weekly basis. I typically watch/listen to it on Hulu while at work.

I’ve also been watching/listening to Flash Forward at work because I just can’t get into it. It’s not bad or anything, it’s just not something I can tear my eyes away from. I can’t figure out exactly what it is that doesn’t do it for me, but it’s just missing something.

I hope they end OTH after this season. It’s just time. I am hoping that Clay and Quinn will end up together, but we’ll see. Also, it’s time for them to let Brooke be happy damn it! Just let her get married and get pregnant already. Good grief! Also, they should bring Sam back or at least mention her once in while. Oh and the Millie on diet pills storyline? Stop it now because I’ve seen that one waaaay too many times.

Watched the first few eps of Fringe S1 and liked it a lot. It’s not something I’d need to see on a weekly basis, but I think I’ll finish out S1 and then download recent S2 eps.

Is Sons of Anarchy good? I adore Charlie Hunnam, but it doesn’t really look like something I’d like.

catching up…

catching-up

I haven’t blogged in forever, so I thought I’d catch up in a giant random post. Oh and I changed the layout because Sophia (as Brooke) is too cute in her sexy devil costume and the photo needed to be utilized. ;)

As most of you know, my dad passed away a couple of weeks ago. We weren’t close and I hadn’t seen him in 10 years so being there at the very end was kind of odd, but I’m so glad I went to see him and had a chance to talk with him briefly. We didn’t get to say all the things we wanted to say, but we said enough and there was peace for both of us. I still haven’t cried over it, but I will one day.

I turned 34 earlier this week. It was an OK birthday other than Aidan being sick and us not getting to cook dinner and stuff like we’d planned. I didn’t want a germy birthday dinner and certainly didn’t want to catch the bug he had. We’ll probably bake a cake or something this weekend, just so we can celebrate properly.

As I’ve plugged several times already, dashmihok.com and sophiabushphotos.com are now online if anyone wants to affiliate. I’ve got spots open for family, top and regular affies. Just email me through either of the sites and I’ll be happy to add you. :)

don’t be a gooey chocolate chip cookie

dont-be-a-gooey-chocolate-chip-cookie

Just finished this week’s TSCC and Dollhouse. Why does the TV have to hurt my brain and break my heart? I didn’t think it was possible for TSCC to wound me more than it did last week with the passing of my absolute favorite character, but it totally did with quite a few things this week. On the bright side though, at least that Jessie is gone. Here’s to hoping she never comes back.

And Dollhouse? I’m so loving the show, but oh my with the heartbreak. OK, so I know not everyone is diggin’ the show as much as I am, but whatever. Mellie/November and Sierra were killing me tonight, especially Sierra. Poor girls. Victor rules! I’ve liked him from the get go, but the past couple of weeks, he’s just been flat out awesome. I don’t recall having seen the actor in anything before, but he’s quite talented and I’m very much enjoying seeing what he brings to the show each week. I’m totally shipping Victor and Sierra now too. You know who I’m starting to like? Topher. He still creeps me out, but I’m finding him to be more funny and nerdy than uber creepy like I did before. I can’t wait for Paul to find out more. Next week can’t get here soon enough.

don’t be shallow

Photos of our beloved Ed Westwick looking not so hot.

Pocket Edward is so much fun!

Matt Dallas and Jaimie Alexander hotness!

I watched the first episode of The Tudors last night and thought it sucked. Does it get better or should I just go ahead and cross it off my list? It’s hard to believe I used to adore JRM so. He’s so creepy looking now and his acting abilities seem to have dwindled a bit too. It’s either the alcohol (and drugs?) or maybe he was trying to find his footing in the first episode(s) or something and he gets better. I also didn’t find Henry Cavill to be terribly great in the acting department either, but he is insanely pretty, so he gets extra brownie points for looks.

Started watching McLeod’s Daughters again a few days ago. I fast forwarded through most of Season 6 because it was sucky, but I’m enjoying Season 7 thus far. Hopefully it’ll continue to be good throughout the remainder of the season.

R.I.P. Andy Hallett

Posted on March 31, 2009 by Stef in Farewell

Andy Hallett passed away on the evening of March 29th from heart failure. He was only 33. So sad. It’s going to be so sad to watch his scenes in Angel now, just like it is when Glenn Quinn is on screen. :(

counter-spark

As you can see, there’s a shiny new layout by Mycah here featuring the adorable and super talented Miss Amy Adams. I’m still tweaking the stylesheet a little, but it’s more or less complete.

The gallery also has a new look by Natalie featuring David Tennant and Kylie Minogue in Doctor Who: Voyage of the Damned. She made it like a year ago and I am just now getting around to using it. I’ve still got a pretty Mad Cowgirl one that I need to use as well. Perhaps I’ll use it next time.

I’ve also added screencaps from the opening credits and episodes 1-3 of Dollhouse to the gallery and will be adding more soon.

Mia Online has also gotten a much deserved facelift thanks to Mycah too. I love it!

I’ve finally bought Butch Walker’s Sycamore Meadows, Sondre Lerche’s Phantom Punch and Lady Gaga’s The Fame recently and am loving them all. Butch and Sondre go great together on a playlist, but not so much with Lady Gaga. I don’t even typically like her kind of music, but it’s so catchy and it’s been motivating me to get my ass moving a little more and that is always a good thing. For instance, yesterday I danced around the house doing laundry and cleaning while her album played and didn’t realize how much I’d gotten done until it was all over. I love getting a little workout without actually working out. ;)

Went on a real date this weekend and had a fun time. We had Indian (yum!) and went to see The Haunting in Connecticut. The food and company were better than the film, but whatever, it was a great night all in all. :)

I caught up on the last few eps of Smallville and oh my do I ever adore Sam Witwer. He’s just so good as Davis. Really, really good. So tortured and hot. Hahaha. He and Chloe kill me. I know they will never be, but they totally need to get to make out again because they are so pretty together and she grounds him. Oh how I love my ’ships that can’t have a future.

That’s all the randomness I have for now.

oh my chad!

oh-my-chad

In the world of TV…

Lost continues to blow my mind. It’s so freaking good, but oh my how the time frames are confusing my poor brain.

Chuck is consistently funny as hell each week. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but it always has Aidan and I howling. We were all but rolling on the floor last night at some of the stuff that happened, like when Chuck goes to save the day, but trips and gets his foot caught in a window and breaks it while managing to create a diversion for Sarah and Casey. Priceless! I’m still waiting for Sarah and Chuck to have some hot sex at least once. They both love each other and can’t be together, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t get it on. Sure, it would probably be funny sex rather than super hot sex and it would make for awkward moments later down the road, but that would also make for more funny.

I’m still loving Dollhouse and so far ep 2 has been my favorite. For one, it had a whole lot of Matt Keeslar in it and anything with Matt in it is a good thing. He’s so dreamy even when he’s playing a creepy and super crazy killer. It’s had the strongest Echo story so far in terms of her adapting to her surroundings and doing what needed to be done to save herself since that wasn’t something that was programmed into her. Episode 3 had a bit of that too with her thinking for herself and pushing death in the face of the diva singer who only thought she wanted to die. Episode 4 wasn’t a strong episode all around, but I still found it to be enjoyable because of the other moving parts in the story. Sierra, Echo and Victor becoming a group is intriguing. This can’t end well for them since they aren’t supposed to develop friendships, but I think it’s interesting. I am intrigued as to why they keep sending Victor to Paul when he won’t stop his search for the Dollhouse. I am intrigued by Alpha (clearly alive) and how he’s doing what he’s doing on the outside. Does he have help? Why is Echo so important? Were they friends? Relatives? In love? Me wants to know!

In movie news…
We went to see Watchmen on Saturday and all in all I really loved it. I have not read the graphic novel yet, but I will do so very soon. I was super excited about the film and wanted to hold off on reading it because I didn’t want to compare the two in my head as I watched the film and inevitably not be able to fully enjoy the film. That being said, here are some of my likes and dislikes and yes, there are some spoilers…

If it was in your soul to do it, then fate would just take you there. And everything else was just a test to see if you were the real thing.

if-it-was-in-your-soul-to-do-it-then-fate-would-just-take-you-there-and-everything-else-was-just-a-test-to-see-if-you-were-the-real-thing

I put the ITC gallery back online if anyone needs anything there. I’ll be giving it a facelift and adding Dollhouse caps very soon.

This weekend was pretty laid back. We mostly hung out at home and watched Dexter and a couple of crappy horror films. We also did a little more work in Aidan’s bathroom and it’s so close to being complete. Aidan’s BFF’s dad kissed me on Saturday night and it was quite nice. I haven’t decided if that’s a good, bad or otherwise thing just yet though. It snowed yesterday and actually stuck. It was mostly all melted by this morning, but it was nice and pretty while it lasted.

To be so young, AnnaLynne McCord looks like a nasty, used up, dirty old whore. I’m really tired of seeing her gross shovel face everywhere I turn.

I’m still loving Dollhouse and even though the backup dancer/singer storyline wasn’t 100% in my wheelhouse, I loved everything as a whole. I love Boyd so much! He’s definitely the big stand out in the series for me. I also dig Paul trying to find out the truth only to be getting blocked at every turn. Or almost every turn. I did not see the thing with Victor coming at all, but I probably should have. I’m intrigued by Dr. Saunders, but can’t figure out what is up with her past and I really, really want to know. I still want to know who the naked guy at the end of ep 1 was who is helping Paul. I’m assuming he’s a rogue active? Or Alpha? But that can’t be because Alpha’s dead, right? So many pieces to the puzzle. Topher creeps me the hell out. He’s scary. *shudders* Lastly, I wish people would stop giving Eliza crap for her portrayal of Echo. I think she’s doing a great job and I don’t really know how else they expect her to act. She is playing a character that is essentially a very young child when she isn’t given any programming and I’m guessing that is probably part of a base personality they give her when they wipe her. She doesn’t know what’s going on there and doesn’t understand anything beyond what they tell her. If she had her own individual personality and were allowed to roam free with it, it would cause problems for the company because they would all be like that and it would make them all very hard to control. I know it’s just a TV show, but people give it shit without giving it much of a chance and from what I understand, the true Joss-ness of it will be coming in within the next few episodes and if it makes it that long, the whiners will probably be eating their words.
